Petersburg Generals’ third-baseman, Greyson Schram, was the homerun derby runner-up at the 2008 Coastal Plain League All-Star game in Asheboro,NC, on Monday.
The all-star game took place on Tuesday, but the home run derby kicked off the all-star events on Monday. Schram, along with 15 of the CPL’s finest, hit the diamond at Asheboro’s McCrary Park for the all-star event.
The homerun derby runs on a point system, and Schram accumulated 36
points only to be beaten by Barrett Kleinknect from the Florence
Redwolves, who ended up with 39 points.
The Coastal Plain League All-Star event involves players from all three
divisions, and places them on two teams for the game, with 16 hitters
competing in the homerun derby.
Fans can catch Greyson Schram, along with the Petersburg Generals, back
at the Petersburg Sports Complex on Thursday, July 24 for Fan
Appreciation Night. The Generals will also play at home on Friday, July
25 for Family Fun Night.
